We have also included some safety points to avoid getting into trouble (lets face it, once you want the car sold you will do about anything!)
Advertising
You obviously need to advertise the car, there are heaps of online sites you can load the details on that aren’t going to eat into your Friday drinks money and will give you a great chance and saying goodbye to the car. Some of our picks:

Check out the sites and their rules and regulations and also their best suggestions to help you sell your car quickly and easily. Remember to list all the features, important info such as km’s and also any modifications.
If you don’t think that online selling isn’t the way to go for you, then there are still plenty of options, noticeboards at University/Offices, newspapers, car magazines, the list is endless. Let’s not forget that if you’re buying a dealership car you might have the option for trade-in.
For most buyers, they will want to see a roadworthy certificate (which is what you should be asking when buying a used car also!) so when you do have some interested buyers book your car into a mechanic who provides the papers (in different states there are different regulations). Test Driving
When a potential buyer comes to inspect the vehicle make sure you;
• Find out their contact details such as name, phone number and if possible address or drivers licence number
• Ring the number you are given to check it is this person’s real number
• Check with your insurer your insurance covers the person test driving your vehicle
• When you agree to a test drive always write down the driver’s license details
• Check the driver’s insurance details as they may not be covered for test driving other vehicles
• Obtain something of value such as their current vehicles car keys
• Accompany test drive yourself
• If have you doubts about the person looking to buy your car don’t rush into the test drive or sale
• If you take a cheque as payment ensure all the drivers license details of the seller are on the back of the cheque.
• Before finalising exchange, request a second form of identification, preferably from a government agency such as a Medicare or passport number or original utilities bill (i.e. Electricity, Water or gas bill)
After you have dotted all the I’s and crossed all the T’s then give the buyer a happy wave as they drive off while you keep a hold your wad of money!
