Insurance
|
Picture this: you have saved for your dream holiday to Indonesia but within the first week of your planned trip, your cash and passport are stolen by marauding monkeys at a local Hindu temple.
Another more serious scenario is if you find yourself ill and need immediate hospital attention, yet have to endure further agony while awaiting treatment due to the lengthy delays in the public health system.
If you find the deal that is right for you, insurance can be low-cost and the outlay to cover the above situations with insurance can be much lower than trying to pay for them if they arise.
It’s not pessimistic to presume that at some point in your life you will need to call upon some kind of insurance: you may get burgled or your airline may lose your luggage and you may get ill and have to have extended time off work.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) recommends all travellers take out travel insurance to avoid these scenarios.
